Motorists who overstay their welcome in parking zones on Edmonton streets now have another weapon to fear.

No more chalk marks on your tire. The city is introducing GPS and photo technology which will make it easier to nab parking scofflaws.

“This vehicle will take a picture of the license plate, the position of the tire, the landmark and the GPS address,” said Erin Blaine with the city’s parking enforcement services. “We’ll come back when the time has expired. If they all match that tells us this vehicle has a violation.”
