NEW DELHI: In a move to make all public transport vehicles safer for passengers and particularly women, soon these will need to install GPS or any other vehicle tracking device, alert button and CCTV cameras.
The road transport ministry on Monday issued draft notification specifying transport vehicles with seating capacity of more than 23 will need to have all the three features and vehicles with less than 23 seats must install vehicle tracking device and emergency button.”The tracking device, alert button and CCTV surveillance system devices shall be fitted by the manufacturer or the dealer or the respective operators, as the case may be,” the draft said.
